Cooks Garden is one of New Zealand’s leading outdoor sporting venues and is famous as the site of Peter Snell’s mile world record of 3 minutes and 54 seconds, set on the 27th of January 1962. Cooks Garden also houses New Zealand’s first wooden cycling velodrome, which was built in 1994 and has been host to many international and local events.
