You are now approaching St James Theatre. This theatre has had a long history in the country's capital. It was extremely successful when it first opened but was almost demolished in the 1980’s but the theatre has managed to become one the cities cultural gems once again. International stage productions are staged at St James Theatre. The building has undergone a number of restorations and renovations and is now a revered building in Wellington. The theatre is located in a busy shopping and dining area of the city called Courtenay Place.
