Coming up ahead is Westpac Stadium. The locals have nicknamed the stadium “the ring of fire” and “the cake tin” because of its circular shape. The ground can hold up to 40 000 spectators and was initially built to create a larger venue for one day international cricket matches. Westpac is often used as the venue for music concerts and other big events. The stadium is a multi service facility but can be used for a number of different sports including soccer, Aussie Rules and rugby. The Aotea Quay is the large area opposite Westpac Stadium.
