Coming up is Wrights Hill Fortress and recreation reserve. This fortress is open to the public and offers 360 degree views of Wellington. There are picnic areas, a number of walking trails and a mountain biking trail at the reserve. Two of the main features of the site are the World War II guns and tunnels on display. There are a number of public open days throughout the year but the fortress tunnels are restricted on national holidays such as Waitangi Day.
