Coming up on the left/right is Barrytown Knifemaking. Here visitors get to make their own knife, forging a blade from hot steel and completing it with a native timber handle, bolsters and pins. This is an activity you need to set aside a day for and usually lasts from about 9.30 am to 4pm. Lunch is provided and afterwards you will spend time putting the finishing touches on your knife. After a final polish and sharpen everyone can compare their handiwork. When you travel back home you will have no problem taking your knife with you. Safety wrapping is provided for travel and as long as you put it in your main luggage there shouldn’t be a problem.
