Coming up is Mitchell’s Gully Goldmine on the left/right hand side. This goldmine has been in the same family for 5 generations and welcomes visitors to see what the gold rush was all about. Explore old diggings, drop shafts and go on a tram ride through old tunnels where ore was extracted. See the rebuilt stamping battery which is found on the same site as the original. The first battery worked 24 hours a day and 7 days a week from 1866 to 1914. How’s that for a long term of service. The goldmine is also surrounded by great bush walks and native orchids.
