You are now approaching the Regent Theatre. This centre was opened in 1931 as a cinema and was used as a bingo hall until the late 1980’s. Soon after a public petition sparked the cinema’s transformation. In 2000 a four storey replacement was completed as part of the town’s Millennium celebration. The Regent Theatre now showcases an average of 400 professional music performances, theatre productions, film and dance events.
