You are approaching the Department of Conservation Information Centre in the Westland National Park. If you have any queries regarding walks, hikes and weather conditions - the staff at the centre will be able to assist you. The park was established in 1960 and stretches from the highest peaks of the Southern Alps to the wild coastline. The park is home to glaciers, lakes, rainforest and old gold mining towns along the coast. Visitors can also hunt Red deer, Chamois and Tahr and access to the mountain area is via helicopter. Along with the mountains, there are also hot springs located at Welcome Flat Hut.
