You are now approaching the Cape Foulwind Seal Colony and Tauranga Bay. From the car park at Tauranga bay it’s about a 10 minute walk which leads to viewing platforms overlooking the seal colony. Each platform has an information panel about activity in the colony and the breeding cycles of seals. There is also a history of the sealing industry which used to exist in New Zealand. You’ll notice that the waves of the Tasman Sea are quite rough as they crash into the rocks and during a storm the force of the ocean is a spectacular sight to see.
