Coming up ahead is the entrance to Copland Track. Copland Track is the historic crossing of the Main Divide between the Mount Cook Village and the West Coast. At the start of the track you’ll find an information board and a memorial to Charlie Douglas. Charlie Douglas lived from 1840 to 1916 and was responsible for exploring the area and supervised the formation of the Copland track in the 1890s.
