You are approaching the turnoff to Fox Glacier in the Westland National Park. The Westland National Park was established in 1960 and is more than one thousand square kilometers big. Fox Glacier is the park’s most famous attractions. The glacier was named in 1872 after a visit from the then Prime Minister, Sir William Fox. The twelve kilometer long glacier attracts thousands of people each year. Visitors can take part in all day walking trips and adventure trails.
