You are now approaching the Kilkenny Lookout and Hawk’s Crag, coming up on the left/right. Hawk’s Crag is a distinct landmark in the Lower Buller Gorge where the road is actually cut into the cliff that drops into the Buller River. This one lane bridge has plenty of twists and turns and a stop off at the Kilkenny Lookout is a must. From there you can admire views of the river and the natural beauty around it. In 1955 uranium was discovered here for the first time and the site was about 1 kilometer from here.
