You are now approaching Mount Aspiring National Park. Named after Mount Aspiring, one of New Zealand’s highest peaks, this park encompasses mountains, glaciers, river valleys and alpine lakes. After thirty years of planning the park was finally established in 1964 and is part of Te Wahipounamu, the Southwest of New Zealand World Heritage Area. The park attracts climbers, trampers, fishermen, hunters and skiers from all over the world!
