Coming up ahead is the Paparoa National Park. The track to the blowholes at Punakaiki is one of the most traveled trails in New Zealand. Behind the blowholes are limestone caves so bring a torch along. If you want to explore the deeper parts of the cave then join up with a local caving tour company. If you prefer to stay in the fresh air kayaking on the Pororari River is a good way to enjoy the scenery. Bird watching in the rainforest is superb and look out for the limestone gorge. The park has a couple of short walks which range from 30 minutes to 3 hours.
